THE ELGI ELEGANT ADVANTAGE:
The ELGI Rotor design incorporated into the Elegant series is acknowledged to be amongst the most efficient in the industry. Asymmetrical rotor profile ensures low power consumption per cubic feet of compressed air. A unique capacity control system not only enhances efficiency but also ensures trouble-free performance. The rotors are dynamically balanced to ensure vibration-free operation. Wear and tear on the rotors is virtually eliminated as the contact between the two rotors occurs only on the lubricated pitch line.
The strips provided at the tip of the rotors ensure maximum sealing with optimum clearance of the main casing. The sealing strips are trapezoidal in shape and form a wedge of oil at the casing wall and in the root land of the rotors. The sealing strips prevent blow-back leak to the inlet. As compared to the conventional design, this is a total leak proof method. The labyrinth design on the rotor is a non-wearing part that effectively meters an optimum flow of
oil to the bearing under all operating conditions.
Both single stage and two stage compressor housings are made from high grade grey cast iron. They are dimensionally stable, thick walled and are machined to close tolerances. The close tolerance of rotors and housing assembly ensures an optimum pressure ratio for high efficiency. Suction and discharge ports are designed to provide better performance over a wide range of top speeds of rotors.
The Airend unit is equipped with anti-friction thrust and radial bearings for higher load carrying capacity and smooth operation.
Drive and Gear systems:
Precision machined helical gears made of high grade steel reduce noise levels, improve fatigue strength and thus enhance reliability. The Airend is energized by a prime mover which is directly coupled with the input shaft through a flexible coupling and drive is given to the male rotor. The speed of the rotors is increased by means of helical gears to obtain required output parameters in terms of free air delivery at specified pressures.
Multi - staging:
Thrust balancing piston arrangement incorporated in the multi-staged models minimizes thrust loading and thus, increases the bearing life. It enhances overall efficiency, ensures high pressure and reduces noise levels.
