Company Profile

Industrial Automation & Control (Pty) Ltd (IAC) was established in April 1998 as a distributor of HIRSCHMANN equipment in Southern Africa. IAC is part of the COMMUNICA GROUP of companies. In the group we have a team of 120 people. The annual turnover is about 12 Million US$. In Southern Africa we have a captured niche marked for industrial data communication equipment. We also supply a range of industrial instrumentation, from the one end (PLC’s, MMI’s and Programming support) to the other end (a large range of industrial connectors).
For the South African market we have an excellent repertoire of oversees suppliers. We aim to be a one stop distributor to the industrial market. We can supply the industry with the most advanced Ethernet switch to the most commonly used banna socket. We specialise in backup services and support, therefore we have established an IAC competence centre. We believe in a multi-disciplinary approach of Marketing, Consulting, Distribution, Training and Support.
Our marketing method is largely based on informative seminars and our focus is on the end users and their requirements.
Our consulting services is based on assistance during system appraisals and technology selection. We believe that consulting is a matter of trust. The success of a network design is a reflection of the competence of its designers. (Good advice is only expensive when it comes too late).
Our distribution channels find its path through the well qualified System Integrators to the end users.
Our training at IAC is practice-orientated seminars and workshops, lead by experienced specialists and is end user focussed and tailored to their requirements.
Our support is therefore situated in our competence centre.

Our Company is divided in two divisions, (1) distribution and (2) export.
Our export division specialise in exporting engineering expertise to various countries. We concentrate on exporting engineering expertise in the following industries: Mining, Mineral Process Plants and the Food and Beverage industry. The engineering fields we concentrate on is design and software engineering. The range of our export services is focussed on the customer’s requirements and is constantly expanding.
