Submerged Arc Furnace Electrode Components
Pressure Rings
We undertake the complete scope of manufacture and supply of patented in-house designs of pressure rings and pressure parts for the submerged arc furnace industry in Southern Africa, in stainless steel, copper and aluminium bronze.
Contact Shoes
We were frontrunners in manufacturing contact shoes from hot-rolled copper slabs, increasingly replacing conventional cast contact shoes and providing to increase life expectancy of the contact shoes, so helping to decrease furnace downtime and enhance production. We also upgrade and repair pressure rings and contact shoes, and supply upper electrode components such as bustubes, slipping devices and smoke seals.
Centrifugal Pumps
We have developed an import replacement programme with several large groups, for a wide range of centrifugal pump spares (horizontal and vertical) used mainly by the mining, petro-chemical and fertiliser industries.
In-house knowledge enables us to develop or redesign components from worn equipment in a comprehensive range of high performance alloys, in many cases improving the original design to help increase production output for the customer.
We also offer two ranges of horizontal centrifugal process pumps with either open or closed impellers.
All are manufactured in South Africa.
Peristaltic Pumps
We have taken peristaltic pumping to a new level with our in-house designed and developed peristaltic pump. The hose forms a 360 degree loop with an eccentric rotor rolling over the hose, which reduces the resistance enormously and, in turn, needs less power to operate.
Valves
We have developed (and are still doing so) a wide range of special application valves, using a large variety of alloys to suit customer requirements. One design received the coveted Shell Design Award.
Our range includes standard industrial butterfly and plug valves, and specially designed hot-feed slide gate valves developed for the submerged arc furnace industry.
When the high-pressure fluid transfer system was developed, and a high-pressure shut-off valve required, we were able to develop it in-house for successful use on a goldmine to 20MPa.
In all cases quality and price compare very favorable with both local and imported competitive products.
Slurry Transfer (Phoenix)
Our Innovative nature is exemplified by a twin-chamber fluid transfer system series of specially developed control and non-return valves.
A pilot plant was installed at a major gold mine and, though the design was later modified due to interest by other mining groups to pump slurries over vast distances and high pressures, slurry can now be pumped without use of the very expensive banks of pumps in series..
