Medium Voltage Distribution

Merlin Gerin offers extensive range of Medium Voltage solutions for the energy, infrastructure building and industrial markets.

Ring main units:
The RM6 range of medium-voltage circuit breaker units are SF6 insulated and include self-powered protection relays or fuse-switches to connect, supply and protect loads of up to 3000kVA on open ring or radial networks. Complying with all relevant IEC and SABS specifications as well as arc containment requirements, the range also offers switch disconnectors designed for networks of up to 24kV.

Indoor Extensible Switchgear:
The Genie extensible switchgear range provides a compact and modular approach to indoor medium voltage applications of up to 38kV while complying with arc containment requirements.This flexible SF6 insulated switchgear meets all required international standards and incorporates features such as front access to cable test facilities, cast resin insulated busbar system etc.

Outdoor Switchgear:
The Ringmaster IP54 switchgear range is suitable for outdoor medium voltage applications of up to 13.8kV. Ringmaster offers exceptional reliability with low maintenance and ownership costs. A wide range of designs satisfies all outdoor requirements through a proven product, with a high safety record.

Low Voltage Fuse Rails:
Opus is a range of advanced fuse rails providing a safe and simple option for electrical distribution in fuse-boards, feeder pillars and cabinets. The Opus range provides increased levels of safety, durability, and ease of operation for ratings up to 630A. The range complies with all relevant international specifications.

Protection and control relays:
Sepam protection and control relays provide all the protection, metering, control, monitoring and annunciation functions required for applications utilizing busbar systems, transformers, motors, capacitors and generators.

Circuit Breakers and Contactors:
The Merlin Gerin circuit breaker ranges are ideally suited for use in MV panels and systems.

The LF - SF6 insulated breakers, offer a breaking capacity of up to 50kA at voltages of 17.5kV and normal rated currents up to 3150A.
The SF range offers a breaking capacity of up to 31.5kA at voltages of 40.5kV and normal rated currents up to 3150A.
The latest addition, the Evolis range of vacuum breakers, offers a breaking capacity of up to 31.5kA at voltages of 17.5kV and normal rated currents up to 2500A.
The Rollarc range of contactors offer operation up to 12kV, with normal rated currents of 400A and breaking capacity levels of up to 8kA.

Easergy T200:

T200 Control Units are a vital range of MV control units designed for implementing tele - control, remote monitoring and automatic control of networks.
Tele-control allows users to manage a distribution network from a remote central point and T200 provides the necessary interface between control stations and the installation.
The system monitors and controls the status of the equipment and communicates the information back to either the primary substations or control room.
By using this remote operation, the fault location and reconfiguration is completed with minimal down time and no manual operation, therefore providing the means to improve the quality of supply in addition to reducing the network operating costs.

NEX
NEX is indoor, metal-enclosed switchgear designed for the MV section of HV/MV and MV/MV substations. The switching devices are of the metal-clad, withdrawable type. Nex design takes into account three categories of users’ requirements:

Reliability necessary for the continuity of power supply
Simple installation, operation and maintenance
Safety of operation personnel

The range currently offered in single busbar format is as follows:

Nominal voltage: Up to 24kV
Short circuit3s: 25kA, 31,5kA
Current: 630A, 1250A, 2500A
Internal arc: 25kA 0,5 second 4 sides
