Refractory Alloys

Refractory metals is a group of materials with melting points well above 4000 degrees F, although they oxidize at lower temperatures. All Metals & Forge provides refractory alloys of columbian (niobium), tantalum, molybdenum (also known as moly), and tungsten.

Refractory alloys are used in capacitor anodes, filaments, chemical process equipment, aerospace, jet engine parts, superconducting materials, electrical contacts, counterweights for aircraft, and in heavy military projectiles. They are also used as alloying elements in super alloys, high nickel alloys, and cobalt alloys.

All Metals & Forge carries these four refractory metals and their alloys in many mill forms. Other shapes and sizes can be pressed and sintered for your needs.

Forging these grades is difficult due to their high harness and resistance to high heat, and are considered on a special order basis only.
