Tool Steels

Tool steel was created primarily to cut and machine other types of metal, such as alloy steel, carbon steel, nickel alloys, aluminum, and magnesium. Its basic characteristic is that it is harder then the material that it is cutting or machining; therefore, tool steel is always used in the heat treated condition.

There are a multitude of tool steel groups, such as air hardening, oil hardening, water hardening, and shock resisting, as well as cold working, hot working, high speed, mold steels and special purpose tool steel.

All Metals & Forge carries a wide and diverse number of common and unusual tool steels for a multitude of applications.

AM&F can also supply tool steel as custom hand-rolled bar in rounds, flats, square, hex and custom shapes up to 2 ¼ inch (57.15 mm), as well as in between sizes that are not commercially available.

Tool steel forged products include blocks, bars, shafts, disks, hubs, flanges, rings, seamless rolled rings, seamless contoured rolled rings.
