EXPERIENCE
The experience and areas of expertise of the firm can shortly be summarised as follows: -
BRIDGES
Seven road over river bridges and a subway, the total value of which adds up to R8 million, were planned and successfully constructed.
BUILDINGS: STRUCTURAL WORK
The firm's involvement in the structural design and quality control of building structures stretches since its origin in 1975. The estimated total value of buildings involved during this period is estimated to be R400 million and ranged from single story industrial to multi story framed concrete structures with the whole range of different foundation types. Different design techniques have been used over the years in order to economise the construction thereof considerably.
DAMS
Three small dam projects were done varying in dam basin size from 0,3 to 0,5 million cubic meters. A 8 million cubic meters category II dam was recently completed. It forms part of the Lower Molototsi River Water Scheme which won the Northern Province SAICE first prize for technical excellence for 1997.
DROUGHT RELIEF PROJECTS
Involvement through two such successive years in the Bolobedu district yielded excellent experience in this field. Worked as a team with Geoconsultants and community leaders.
LABOUR INTENSIVE PROJECTS
A labour intensive street upgrading project stretching over 2,5 years worth R4 million is completed during 1994. Another concrete paved street project was done in Messina for the value of two million Rand.
PIPELINES AND PUMPING STATIONS
Twelve major assignments were done. The lengths of pipelines varied from 0,8 km to 260 km reticulation.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND FINANCIAL PROGRAMMING
The firm handles project management. His approach is not to expand internally to embrace all professional disciplines but to liase on an ad hoc basis with well-known professional architects, quantity surveyors, electrical engineers and others as associates.
SEWERAGE: MAINLINES
Four schemes were completed which varied form 10 to 15 km in length.
SEWERAGE: OUTFALL WORKS
Four schemes were completed whereby oxidation ponds were built.
SEWER RETICULATION
Six assignments were completed varying from 16 to 1600 erven reticulated per project.
STREETS AND STORMWATER DRAINAGE
Fifteen projects whereby township roads with stormwater drainage were planned and have been built varying from 4 to 9 km streets per project.
TRANSPORT: ROADS
Four paved road projects were done varying from 8 to 24 km in length each.
Intensive experience over a period of two years was gained with the maintenance of rural roads in the former Gazankulu.
TRANSPORT: RAILWAY LINES
Two sidings varying from 0,3 to 1,5 km each in terms of rail length was done.
TRAFFIC TEST CENTRES
Ten Traffic test centres were planned and seven built in the Northern Province.
WATER PURIFICATION WORKS
Two 4 Ml / day purification plants for the former Tzaneen Town Council and Department of Water Affairs have been designed and built. A 3,5 Ml per day plant was done at Modjadji and upgrading of the Thapane plant was done to yield 3Ml per day
WATER SUPPLY: RESERVOIR
Twenty-five reservoirs of various designs were done which varied in size form 0,4 to 9 Ml.
WATER RETICULATION
Twelve major schemes, which varied in size from providing water for 16 to 1600 erven townships.
SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL
Two new sites were fully developed with the necessary permits and three others are being processed. The completed sites are at Marble Hall and Pietersburg.
