BEST PERFORMING MOTOR PROTECTION, CONTROL & MANAGEMENT RELAY

BEST PERFORMING MOTOR PROTECTION, CONTROL & MANAGEMENT RELAY

Product News Sunday, May 31, 2015: NewElec (Pty) Ltd

The NewCode motor protection and control relay from NewElec is fully Profibus accredited and Eskom approved but retains the user-friendly features that is synonymous with the company’s products. The  NewCode is a three-phase motor protection relay with seven inputs accommodating 24 to 220 volts ac or dc and four fully programmable output contacts.  The relay caters for the protection of low voltage, medium voltage and high voltage motors.

The NewCode is a full-house protection relay that includes dry-run protection with user selectable options such as priming time, detection by current or power factor methods, trip time period and manual or automatic re-start times. Earth leakage protection is provided with user-selectable tripping curves and sensitivity levels and includes harmonics filtering. Increased safety is assured by means of infrared through cubicle door relay communications. Downtimes can be reduced with the settings memory module that permits rapid re-installation of software configurations. The statistical information provided also informs on the motor total running hours and the time the motor ran “on load”. The relay is equipped with advanced starter logic catering for any start methodology and includes elaborate yet user friendly control logic, in-built timers, counters, thermal comparator, latched contacts, pulse generator, real time clock etc.. too many features to elaborate on. Recordings of motor performance may be done with the FREE SOFTWARE provided. Sample recording times of 35 msec are achieved and the relay even provides a spectrum analyser for recording up to the 9th harmonic.

The onboard data base stores events and fault records and the continuous coloured flashing LED provides a visual indication of the communications address. Control panel mounted LEDs indicate the I/O status. Various add-on modules are available including additional I/O, 4 to 20 mA analogue ‘in’ or ‘out’ and RTD real time temperature sensing.

This is by far the most user friendly , technology filled relay on the market today.
