RS Components introduces Raspberry Pi easy-to-solder prototyping board for engineers and students
RS-designed solder-tag board delivers a low-cost way to build prototypes and unlock the learning potential of the Raspberry Pi
Johannesburg, South Africa, 3 January 2017 - RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE:ECM), the global distributor for engineers, has launched a 40-pin solder-tag board for the highly popular Raspberry Pi credit-card sized computer board.
Exclusively available from RS, the new RS Pro solder-tag board is ideal for electronics engineers developing prototypes based around the Raspberry Pi board, as well as being well suited for education and the training of students and electronics beginners.
Specially designed by RS to work with the Raspberry Pi, the solder-tag board is the same size and offers a total of 40 solder-tag terminals, matching the 40 pins on the Raspberry Pi. Connecting via the Raspberry Pi’s GPIO header connector, essentially the RS Pro board offers users and developers flexible prototyping abilities by providing a simple means of soldering and de-soldering electronic components via easy to make and break solder connections. The very low cost of the high-quality SRBP board also means it can be replaced cheaply.
The holes in the tag board align with the mounting holes in the Raspberry Pi, which enables the tag board to be mounted beneath the Raspberry Pi board using an additional mounting kit that consists of four legs and eight screws. In addition, the central slot in the solder-tag board allows a ribbon cable to pass through it.
Also available from RS, and ideal for use when designing circuit boards and developing prototypes, is a wide range of test and measurement equipment including oscilloscopes and multimeters, and a selection of soldering stations and electrostatic discharge (ESD) control equipment, which are featured within the electronics workbench applications page on the RS website.
The RS Pro solder-tag board for Raspberry Pi is now available from RS Components.

RS is focussed on reducing the customers “total cost of product ownership” by reducing the need to make multiple calls to various companies to source products, reducing supplier related administration and allowing for the amalgamation as well as consolidation of supplier bases. Through this process, procurement efficiency is improved and time is freed up to concentrate on the more important business decisions.
