Spiralling Success

Humbert and Pol, Germany’s leading materials handling engineering company, launched its new spiral conveyor at the recent CeMAT exhibition in Hannover. The spiral, which is designed for continuous elevation and lowering of packaged products within the factory environment, can be used in isolation as a space saving method of moving product between floors, or as part of an integrated product flow or line storage/retrieval system, enabling the movement of many hundreds of packages per hour.

Using only one drive motor, the spiral can operate at speeds up to 60 metres/minute and can be constructed in either mild or stainless steel, according to the needs of the installation. Automatic conveying chain tensioning according to the weight of the packages is a feature which allows the spiral to be used not only for vertical movement, but also as a storage tower in applications where floor space is limited.

Already the Humbert and Pol spiral conveyor has proved itself suitable for transporting a wide range of boxes and cartons, trays, sacks, shrinkwrapped products and drums and is now available in the UK market through its local representative, Robin Engineering Services.
