Cutting electrode removes need to carry fuel gases and oxygen.
Speciality Welds have developed a new arc-cutting electrode called ‘Swordfish’™. This new electrode is a high iron-oxide manual metal arc (MMA) electrode originally developed for use underwater, but provides a very effective means of cutting for more general on-site applications, etc.
The oil company Shell conducted a rigorous set of trials to evaluate the dangers of cutting underwater and it has now been proven that Swordfish offers significant safety factors over conventional oxy-fuel cutting methods. This report is available to download from http://www.specialwelds.com/products2/swordfish/index.htm
The electrode provides a very clean and precise cut; whilst at the same time is easy to use. No special equipment is required, just a standard DC welding power source. The electrodes are available in two sizes, 4.0 and 5.0mm. They can be used in all positions and will cut a wide range of materials; including steel, stainless steel, cast-iron, nickel-bronze, copper alloys, and aluminium and its alloys. These electrodes will replace the need to carry and transport fuel gases and oxygen and therefore, offers advantages for health and safety issues as well as being more cost effective and easier to use; The product can be used for a wide range of fabrication, erection, snagging and general engineering works, etc.
