Direct moves of roof supports with advanced high technology from SMT Scharf
Friday, August 01, 2008: SMT SCHARF AFRICA
RAG Deutsche Steinkohle AG nowadays uses SMT Scharf technology in its mines almost on an exclusive basis. This is especially true for transport of roof supports from the current generation which weigh up to 28 metric tons. During moves in mines in Germany's Ruhrgebiet area these roof supports have to be moved along inclines of up to 20 degrees. To achieve this, RAG Deutsche Steinkohle AG uses modern monorail trains that consist of diesel locomotives DZ2000 and Vario heavy lifting beams by SMT Scharf. In this way the mines avoid the expensive and time-consuming dismantling of the roof supports.
