Eskom votes BMG

Wednesday, July 29, 2009: Bearing Man Group (BMG)

Eskom DSM has announced that BMG – Bearing Man Group - is now a supplier of Fenner energy efficient electric motors for Eskom’s national energy efficiency programme.

“BMG’s Eskom registered vendor number 11005558 has been awarded for the company’s new Fenner energy efficient EFF1 electric motors, which ensure high efficiency, reduced energy consumption, extended motor life and low operating costs,” says Mark Engall, Motoline national sales manager, BMG Drives. “These new energy efficient EFF1 electric motors, if correctly used, are proven to offer savings of between 1.1% and 7.6% on electricity consumption. When they are used in conjunction with other BMG energy saving products, like OST self tensioning motor bases, electricity savings can be as high as 10%.

“This range of EFF1 electric motors is an addition to the company’s Motoline range, which has been upgraded with improvements in quality, design and tolerance specifications. This range comes standard with a Class B temperature rise at a 40 degree ambient, an IP 65 index protection rating and Class H insulation. These motors also have removable feet up to and including frame size 225, for optimum flexibility. A modified cooling fan, larger terminal box, improved quality of materials and more efficient sealing, are other important features.

“Apart from energy saving – a critical issue facing South Africa – these new high efficiency motors have advantages over standard electric motors. These benefits include longer service life, suitability for voltage variation applications, reduced temperature rise, minimal maintenance requirements and cost efficiency.”

These motors are equipped with grease relief at both drive and non-drive ends and for user convenience, they are supplied with a lubrication application chart.

Fenner EFF1 motors are available in cast iron, from 7,5 kW to 110 kW, 2 and 4 pole, 400 and 525 V and 50 Hz units.

These new energy saving electric motors, which meet stringent international specifications, have also passed extensive testing required by local industry and the mining sector. This range has also been awarded SABS certification.

BMG Drives, with over 120 branches nationally, is uniquely positioned to meet the exact gear drive and motor requirements of contractors, designers and the end-user in diverse industries.
