Capacitive Proximity Switches

A Capacitive Proximity Switch is used for non contact switching. It consists of a capacitive proximity sensor and a switch. The sensor produces a electrostatic field; as an object (target) passes near to the sensor, a change in the electrostatic field occurs, inducing a change in the capacitance measured by the sensor. Unlike and inductive proximity switch, capacitive proximity switches can work with both metallic and non-metallic targets.
