Hycon Electrical Components (Pty) Ltd is situated at Anderbolt, Boksburg in the eastern part of Johannesburg. The company is a major supplier of high quality plugs and socket systems. The company supplies the Marechal Decontactors, manufactured using the superior high pressure Butt contact technology. The products have an integral switching device allowing it to make and break mixed loads in total safety, complying with IEC/EN60309-1 for Industrial sockets and plugs as well as IEC/EN60947-3 for Switches.
Compliance with the standards
All Decontactor plugs and socket-outlets guarantee conformity to the standards and to the decrees on the protection of workers. They comply with IEC 60309-1 and EN 60309-1international and European standards (plugs and socket-outlets for industrial purposes). They also comply with the European Low Voltage Directive, the French decree n° 88-1056 of 14th November 1988 relating to the protection of workers and the various European decrees.
Integral Switching Device
MARECHAL has designed decontactor plugs and socket-outlets which are plugs and socket-outlets with an integral switching device enabling the user to always withdraw the mobile part (plug or connector) in complete safety as the circuit is already dead. The Decontactor plug is essentially a SWITCH as well.
Central earth contact
The reliability of the designed products, manufactured and sold by Marechal guarantees to the user a much longer lifespan than the requirements stipulated in the standards in terms of mechanical and electrical endurance. Products can perform even in the harshest environments.
Contact technology
Marechal contacts are identical to those used for switches and contactors. They use a butt-style pressure contact and metallic braid technology and a rated spring. The force applied to this contact is generated by the compression of this rated spring and is consequently known and remains constant over time even after tens of thousands of cycles: guarantee of a perfect contact quality over time.
Quality of contacts materials
Material used for the contact is another key parameter that determines the quality of a contact and consequently of a plug and socket-outlet. Marechal contacts are identical to those used for switches and contactors. They have silver-nickel contact tips which guarantee a perfect contact quality over time.
Automatic watertightness
Most of Marechal plugs and socket-outlets ensure an automatic watertightness, which is achieved as soon as the plug is fully inserted into the socket-outlet or when the lid of the socket-outlet is closed, without any other operation or use of locking rings.
Unloosening of conductors
All Marechal plugs and socket-outlets use a terminal design that compensates for strand settlement and copper yield. This spring-assisted tightening also guarantees that the terminal screws remain tight under vibrations.In short, it eliminates the risk of loosening of the terminal screws and thus avoiding excessive temperature rise for contacts. This guarantees a long lifespan to the plug and socket-outlet.
