Hydrodynamic Couplings

A hydrodynamic coupling is a method for transferring power between two rotating shafts. The end of each shaft is enclosed in a sealed housing filled with fluid and the end of each shaft is fitted with a turbine. The ratio of the turbines determines the power transmission characteristics of the coupling. Hydrodynamic couplings have reduced shock loading when compared to other mechanical couplings.
