Company Description
The Midlands laboratory originated from the Round Oak Steel Works, based at Merry Hill, in the heart of the "Black Country". In 1997 Bodycote acquired a second Midlands based laboratory; the Midlands Research Company and the laboratory services were merged to form the current business.
The laboratory offers a wide range of testing services to the local steel making and manufacturing sectors.
The Midlands laboratory offers an extensive range of facilities from it's prestigious purpose built site in the heart of the West Midlands. In addition to routine mechanical testing and chemical analysis facilities, we offer a widely used metallurgical/failure examination service.The laboratory also provides a range of high temperature tests including, stress rupture and tensile testing.
These services are principally utilised by the offshore oil & gas and aerospace sectors. In response to the demand from the local manufacturing industry, on site testing has been developed in recent years. Highly trained personnel can now offer a wide range of on-site tests including chemical analysis. Since September 1998, this laboratory has been the home of the newly formed Bodycote Corrosion Centre.
