Inductive proximity switches with linear analogue signal

Displacement of a metal component by as little as a tenth of a millimetre can be key to fine positioning, or controlling the steel sheets on presses and stamping machines. New analogue inductive proximity switches from sensor market leader ifm electronic have longer sensing ranges and superb linearity, and thus address drawbacks of earlier generations.

These new proximity switches safely detect the tiniest changes in distance and provide a linear analogue signal - depending on the version - with a voltage output (0...10V) or current output (4...20 mA). A special feature is the extremely high repeatability of less than +/- 2% and the linear output characteristics better than +/- 3 % of the final value of the measuring range over the whole operating range.

These ifm sensors are supplied in robust cylindrical M18 and M30 design. The enhanced operating range is 0.8 ... 8 mm or 1...15 mm. The short response time of less than 10 ms (type M18, < 20 ms for type M30) allows use of the sensors even in processes requiring fast control. The wide temperature range of -25...80° C enables the sensors to withstand otherwise critical applications.

ifm supplies one of the widest ranges of sensors for position and process control, complemented by a huge selection of connection possibilities, from connecting cable to AS-interface systems.

ifm is committed to working closely with its customers to develop products which precisely match their needs, and the company provides expert, readily accessible technical support to help users maximise the benefits they gain from ifm products.
