Out with the old and in with the new

Product News Tuesday, January 19, 2016: Huntingdon Fusion Techniques Limited

Weld Purge Monitors® are an essential instrument to help obtain non-oxidised, zero colour welds by monitoring the oxygen content, ideal when purging with inert gas, when welding metals such as stainless steel, titanium and nickel alloy where a high quality weld is required.

Advancing in the science of manufacturing beyond other designs, Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT®’s market leading PurgEye® 100 can help to eliminate the post weld cleaning costs. It is these costs that otherwise make the high cost of each weld ultra significant.

Michaela Reay, Marketing Associate for HFT® said: “The PurgEye® 100 is our low cost, IP65 rated, hand held unit, which reads from atmospheric level (20.94%) down to 100 parts per million (ppm). The PurgEye® 100 replaces our previous, out of date MKV monitor, which some companies are still using today.”

Unlike the MKV, the PurgEye® 100 comes with innovative leak-tight push buttons, auto calibration features, vacuum-sealed leak-tight probe assembly, wrist/neck strap, optional rubber housing protector and tripod mount.

The newly designed, extra long life sensor allows the user to continue to use the monitor for up to 18 months before the low sensor indicator appears on the screen. Once that icon appears, it provides the user with adequate time to obtain a new sensor, which can be fitted on site without any complicated electrical wiring to change and the unit can be calibrated easily by the user.

The PurgEye® 100 has a clear, easy to read LCD screen, offering a 24 mm high display, which is approximately a 41% larger display than used previously. The display also shows a low battery icon. When the monitor is not in use, an automatic sleep mode activates to conserve battery life.

The Weld Purge Monitor® was invented by HFT® in the 1970’s and with over 40 years of innovation, design and manufacturing experience, the company now has a Family of PurgEye® Weld Purge Monitors® to measure oxygen levels from atmospheric content (20.94%) down to 1 ppm (accurate to 10 ppm).

HFT® also offers a Weld Purge Monitor® exchange replacement scheme, so that companies can upgrade old, out of date models for the PurgEye® 100 IP65.
