MECS was formally known as Monsanto Enviro-Chem and following a management buyout in 2005, the name of Monsanto Enviro-Chem Systems was changed to MECS and now exists as a privately held Company based in St. Louis in the USA with subsidiaries worldwide. MECS in South Africa reports to MECS Europe/Africa BVBA in Brussels, Belgium.
MECS is a leading provider of technology, products and services to the global Sulphuric Acid industry and manufactures an extensive line of proprietary products that includes sulphuric acid catalyst, mist eliminators (or candle filters), mesh pads, acid coolers, gas/gas heat exchangers, Alloy piping systems for acids and other special alloy equipment that are commonly used throughout chemical and petrochemical process industries.
MECS also has technology for gas cleaning, known as the DynaWave Reverse Jet Scrubber, which can accomplish particulate removal, acid gas absorption and hot gas quenching in one single unit.
