PROWRENCH OPTA TOOL ACQUIRE HOMOLOGATION

Crane Electronics’ 25Nm and 75Nm ProWrench Opta torque and angles wrenches have now acquired homologation from a major global car manufacturer. This means that these tools satisfy the manufacturer’s own internal performance standards - which are themselves based upon exacting nationally and internationally recognised standards.

The homologation standards for torque performance are based on the DIN ISO 6789 standard which relates to assembly tools for screws and nuts. It sets out requirements and test methods for design conformance testing, quality conformance test and calibration procedures.

For torque and angle measurement, the homologation is based on three VDI/VDE standards with 2646 covering minimum requirements in calibrations for torque measuring devices and 2647 providing guidelines for dynamic checking of tools according to ISO 5393. The 2648 standard covers transducers or measuring systems for measurement of angle, instructions for traceable calibration, indirect measure angle measuring systems.

Acquiring homologation for these two ProWrench Opta tools is a major achievement for Crane Electronics. The car manufacturer’s standards are amongst the most exacting in the automotive industry and other customers in the same sector can view the performance of these ProWrench Opta tools with confidence.
