Hydraulic Steering Gear

A hydraulic steering gear is a component used in automobile power steering systems that utilize a hydraulic pump to deliver the steering assist. The steering wheel column is usually connected to a torsion bar that transfers torque from the steering wheel to the wheels. The steering gear is located between the torsion bar and the wheel drive system in order to transfer torque.
